Renowned internationally for its research excellence supporting a sustainable ocean, Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) has an exciting opportunity for a Share Point Developer to assist in the rollout of SharePoint as document platform, intranet, and bespoke workflow system on numerous projects. 

The position will:

  • Work with staff to plan, develop and launch new SharePoint systems based on the Office 365 platform
  • Plan, build and deliver technical solutions based on organisational requirements to aid business growth
  • Provide technical support and input to new system requirements
  • Disseminate knowledge, skills, and experience to the in-house IT group

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

  • Design and build new SharePoint sites to meet the varied requirements of different customers. Use SharePoint web parts to create appropriate layouts and power platform automations as and when needed. Maintain and update these areas as requirements change. 
  • Design, build, and support systems based on the Office 365 suite. Including use of technologies based on the o365 Power Platform.
  • Provide a clear breakdown of licencing charges for any solutions designed pre-implementation.
  • Create the permissions structures for new implementations and ensure that the security of O365 and SharePoint solutions are maintained through the granting of permissions. Advise users how to access the systems and apply permissions. 
  • Develop requirements collated by the in-house IT group from user groups or area owners to create specific solutions or page designs. 
  • Test, document and implement new features as required 
  • Liaise with users and senior managers to assist with requirement gathering and implementation planning. 
  • Provide excellent support to users of O365 in maintaining SharePoint sites and lists as required, giving advice and guidance to users on functionality. 
  • Understand how the Office 365 suite of applications can be best utilised to improve productivity within the organisation.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of supporting SharePoint tenancies, SharePoint site creation and SharePoint site migration
  • Experience of supporting Office 365 applications and an understanding of their relationships to each other, in particular:
  • Ability to create and support SharePoint sites
  • Ability to create and support MS Forms
  • Experience in resolving any of the above related user issues.

Desirable

  • General knowledge of Power Automate workflows
